Heading styles, tailored to your look

The pleat at the top defines the whole drapery — from crisp and modern to soft and classic. These are the styles our clients ask for most.

Ripple fold drapery heading — continuous S-waves on a track

Ripple Fold

Most popular

Continuous, uniform S-waves on a track — clean, contemporary, and the easiest to glide open and closed.

Three-finger pinch pleat drapery heading

Three-Finger Pinch Pleat

Classic & formal

The classic tailored pleat — three folds pinched together for a full, timeless, formal look.

Two-finger pinch pleat drapery heading

Two-Finger Pinch Pleat

Softer & lighter

A relaxed French pleat with two folds — a touch less structured, and uses a little less fabric.

Inverted box pleat drapery heading — flat tailored face

Inverted (Box) Pleat

Contemporary

The pleat is folded behind for a smooth, flat, tailored face — crisp and architectural.

Also available: tailored (euro) pleat, goblet, grommet and rod-pocket headings — your designer brings samples of each.

Questions about drapery

Before you decide

How much does custom drapery cost?

Drapery is priced by fabric, fullness and window size — panels typically start in the mid-hundreds and rise with premium fabrics and linings. Because we sew locally, we control both cost and quality, and your exact quote is always free at the in-home consultation.

Ripple fold or pinch pleat — what's the difference?

Pinch pleat is the tailored, classic look with structured pleats; ripple fold is the clean, modern S-wave that glides on a track. Sheers work beautifully in either. Your designer shows samples of both in your actual space.

Can drapery be motorized?

Yes — we install and program silent motorized tracks (Lutron, Somfy) integrated with Control4, Savant and Google Home. Ideal for tall, wide or hard-to-reach windows.

Should I layer drapery with shades?

Often yes — pairing sheers or drapery with a roller or solar shade gives you softness plus true light and privacy control. It's the designer look we're known for, and your designer can show you how it works in your room.

How do I care for custom drapery?

Depending on the fabric, most drapery is dry-clean or gentle spot-clean. We give you the right care guidance for your specific fabric at delivery.

How long until my drapery is installed?

Because it's cut and sewn to order locally, custom drapery runs a little longer than shades but still far faster than imported drapery. Your designer confirms the exact timeline at your consultation.
